5 Ways Living Alone Will Change You

It has been a little over a month since I have been living alone. While I have been wanting to live alone for about 10 years, I didn’t realize how much solo dwelling would teach me.

You Become Super Independent and Confident

confidence living alone

I thought I was independent before I move out, but I never realized that I could be as independent as I am now. This is the first time in my life that I am the only one who is paying the bills and buying the groceries. It is the first time I am completely in charge of my life, and it is a great feeling. I remember the day I put my entertainment center together by myself I felt like I could take on the world.

You will learn more about yourself

Self reflection living alone

Living alone scares a lot of people. One of the things I hear from people is that they feel they would get lonely. You are alone a lot. You really get used to your own company. It’s easy to see how that could scare people, but I think that is one of the advantages of living alone. Living alone has allowed me to learn so much about myself. I learned that I really am a clean freak. I’ve really reflected on where I want my career to go.

You will put more effort into your social life

I was super concerned that living alone would make me feel lonely. I’m not going to lie I think it living alone could become lonely without the proper work. I have made a point to connect with friends and family to either have phone conversations or walk in the park right around the corner from me. I have a more active social life now that I live alone. Solo dwelling also allows you to nourish multiple relationship instead of simply hanging out with roommates or significant others.

You will learn how to ask for help

While I pride myself on being an independent woman (who don’t need no man) sometimes I do have to ask for help. That has been a learning curve for me because I feel like I am inconveniencing people. There are just some things though that you cannot do by yourself like putting your new air conditioner in your window.

You will want to try new things

Living by yourself gives you confidence and help you get outside your comfort zone. I feel like I’m ready to try all of the things I have not had the confidence to try before. For example, I am currently in the process of starting a podcast (more info coming soon). See the microphone I bought here. I am also feeling more comfortable in putting myself out there in my business.
