7 Easy Ways to Make Extra Money (and Fast)

We all have times when money is tight. Or maybe you just need some extra cash for a big purchase or to start paying off your debt. Truthfully most of us could always use some extra money. Here are some of the simplest ways that I earn extra money.

Join a Delivery Service

Do you have your own car? One way that I make extra money is by doing delivery services. I deliver for Shipt, Doordash, or Instacart when money is tight or I have free time. I often bring in $150-170 per shift and those are often working only half days. These jobs are pretty fun. Just put on some podcasts, bring a battery pack, and track your mileage (I use driversnote).

Sell Your Old Phones

We all have the best of intentions when we get a new phone. But sooner or later that old phone gets forgotten about and left in the drawer. Well, one easy way to make extra money when you need it is by finally selling those old phones. You can do this through Facebook Marketplace or through any third-party websites that will buy them.

Clean Out Your Closet

Many of us have more clothes than we can wear. Why not sell some of those clothes that we aren’t wearing and make some money off of them. Provided that they are in good condition you could make a pretty decent chunk of change by selling your old clothes through Facebook Marketplace or Mercari and Poshmark.

Offer to Clean Houses

One thing I do when money gets tight is clean houses. It’s easy money and depending on the house/week you can make a few extra hundred a week. I find most of the houses I clean through word of mouth/putting it out on Facebook. But you can also sign up on care.com and have people find you that way.

Petsitting/Dog Walking

Another fun way to make some easy money is through pet sitting or dog walking. I don’t do this one too often, but when I do I really enjoy it. I usually find people through mutual friends or family. If you want to pet sit or dog sit more often then I suggest signing up through care.com.

Answer Surveys

This is probably the easiest way to make some extra money. I use Swagbucks to answer survey questions. I answer these while I’m watching TV. Each survey is worth a certain amount of points and those points can then be redeemed for gift cards. You can then sell those gift cards if needed. I like to get them to restaurants I like. When you’re working hard to get extra money it’s nice to treat yourself. They also give you a certain amount of points when you shop online. I have at times used a Sephora gift card that I earned from their website to purchase something and then made more points from that purchase. They also have a feature that will pay you to watch certain videos. I often run these videos with my sound muted to earn points while working on other things.

Use Ibotta to Make Money Off Groceries

You have to buy groceries right? Well, this app will give you a rebate on certain items. It’s incredibly easy to use. I’m super excited that they have added online shopping now as well because I use Shipt for my groceries (I get free delivery as a shopper). It’s not going to give you a ton of money like the other options here, but every bit counts. I suggest only buying things that you would buy anyway.
