National Blogging Month: 4 Tips to Easily Plan Your Content

Happy November! In honor of National Blogging Month, I will be sharing blogging-related content periodically throughout the month. I’ll be expanding on my planning process, writing process, and tips to optimize your blog posts and get more views.

Planning Blog Content can be stressful. Especially when you’re starting out and blogging is just a hobby. It’s easy to let the months get away from you. These 4 tips will help you plan your blog posts like a pro so you can keep your blog updated and your stress levels down.

I use Monday.com‘s Content Calendar to plan my content. I clear my schedule for about an hour about once every six months and plan out a year’s worth of blog posts. I don’t always use all of them and sometimes I add more as time goes on, but it’s nice to have ideas in my back pocket.

When I’m looking at what I’m going to write about I typically go by month. Every month has its own holidays and events that we all collectively enjoy. For example, in January we are experiencing the new year so maybe you talk about goal setting or share your healthiest recipes. It’s easy to create content when you focus on one month at a time.

Consider Seasons

Similar to months, another essential thing to focus on is seasons. Each season has its own events and activities that can help you create content. We have different concerns and problems from one season to another. Maybe you’re a beauty blogger. Your skincare advice in the Winter might be different than in the summer. Same with Fashion. Our wardrobes are different throughout the year.

Use Trends to Plan Your Blog Posts

So let’s say you have a year’s worth of content from a content dump, but none of it is jumping out to you. Sometimes the content we planned a year ago doesn’t inspire us or work for our brand anymore (and that’s okay). When I am trying to plan a blog post to go out that week. I typically consider what is trending. I utilize trend.google.com as well as Pinterest trends ( you must have a business profile) to figure out what people are interested in that’s within my niche. Then I use those keywords or phrases people are searching for throughout my blog. My traffic has nearly doubled since doing this.
